Mark Steyn covers the latest effort of the Canadian government to gay up its population. They’ve established a government-funded “register of homophobic acts.” Steyn wonders how this will work with Bilal Philips, a Saudi-educated cleric in Ontario who’s on record saying that “all male homosexuals should be killed for their deviant behavior.” Good stuff. Canada will twist itself into pretzels on their way to losing all freedoms, but we must remain vigilant in protecting ourselves from the same foolishness here.
But wait, in Minneapolis, a “Judge says man can’t hand out Bibles at Twin Cities Pride fest.” I guess the Bible is anti-gay, and since gays are allowed anywhere and since gays aren’t comfortable around the Bible, the Bible has to go. But, since the USA was founded on the principles of gay people, this makes sense.
A while back, the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles cancelled the speeches of Robert Spencer (Stop the Islamization of America) and Pamela Geller (Atlas Shrugged) because the Muslims at CAIR and MPAC protested them. In other words, the Jewish Federation was enforcing Sharia Law, which prevents the truth about Islam from being heard in many lands. However, in America, we have something called freedom of speech that supersedes the sensibilities of those who’d be offended by speech uncomfortable because it might be true or might not be. In any case, some levelheaded Jews are protesting the Jewish Federation. If you allow yourself to be silenced by those who’d rather you be dead because of your race and/or your religion, what else will you allow them to do? As one of the signs say: “Jews don’t silence other Jews. Shame on the Jewish Federation.”
France succeeded in selling bonds with actual negative yields. The three-month bond yields –0.005%, and the six-month bond yields –0.006%. Low yields normally signify fear. I’m not sure why anyone would buy a bond to get negative interest. This must signify horror. Whoever said that it couldn’t get any worse was wrong. France is the 2nd best economy in Europe.
Yesterday, I wrote about Soros, Obama and Clinton backing the UN Arms Trade Treaty, which would mean foreigners would be mandating that Americans register their guns with an international organization of unelected bureaucrats. It turns out that “Iran has been named to the group overseeing the ATT conference.” In other words, my well-armed American friends, Obama and Hilary Clinton will negotiate your right to bare arms with the same country that is part of the axis of evil. Time to buy more ammo and more guns.
Benjamin Jealous, the head of the NAACP, is a joke. He claims that voter ID laws are racist, and he’s comparing his battle against them to “Selma and Montgomery times.” He says: “We must overwhelm the rising tide of voter suppression with the high tide of registration and mobilization and motivation and protection. Simply put, the NAACP will never stand by as any state tries to encode discrimination into law.” Voter ID laws serve one purpose. They help prevent voter fraud by making sure that voters are qualified to vote. Non-citizens are not allowed to vote. Citizens are allowed to vote. Citizens can get ID. If voter-ID laws suppress voting of citizens, I’d like to know how. Either Benjamin Jealous is in favor of non-citizens diluting the votes of citizens, or he thinks black people are too stupid to figure out how to get an ID.
In Australia, a family was charged a $55 “carbon tax charge” for burying one its own. I think the Australian government might be misunderstanding the phrase “death and taxes.”
The Dailycaller reports “83% of doctors have considered quitting over Obamacare.” Considering the fact that all insurance plans will be cookie-cutter with government mandates out the wazoo, the only way to afford the medical care necessary will be to necessitate that doctors accept less money for what they do. At the same time, their costs for liability insurance will not go down in accordance. As a result, doctors will have to work more for less, especially as some doctors are sure to leave the business at the same time that fewer young folks will enter the profession due to skyrocketing med-school costs. How many different ways will America be lessened if this legislative monstrosity lives? Hey Obama, my doctor just quit. You said I could keep my doctor. Are you going to force him to work against his will? We’ll see?
Democrats say that they believe in privacy because only then can they kill their unborn and make porn movies with children that didn’t get aborted. I say this because, in order to justify the “constitutionality” of abortion, the Supreme Court used a previous court-created “right to privacy,” which is still found nowhere in the Constitution. Well, privacy is for them and not for Republicans. The liberal Politico does a story on how Obama’s foot soldiers are chasing Republican politicians with video cameras. They’re even filming them walking into their own homes. In a totalitarian country, where the only private person is sleeping, this might be fine, but in a free nation, even politicians should be free from the public eye at some point. And I say that even as I despise most politicians.
Obama is now inviting the newly installed Muslim Brotherhood Egyptian dictator to the USA. It’s a shame that Obama was behind the Islamization of Egypt as the main supporter of the so-called Arab Spring. It’s also a shame that we actually now have to recognize and give credence to such a vile head of government. I know, the Egyptians elected him. But that’s not our fault. It’s theirs. We should not be legitimizing an insane people’s choice. The moral foulness of their choice should lead us to abandon them until they can vote like civilized people rather than Sharia-craving mad men on a mob run at the destruction of Israel. We should stop funding them. They’ve violated, with their own choice, the agreement that we, as humans, should feel no obligation to support barbarians.
Scranton, PA can no longer afford its government, so the mayor is now paying all government workers minimum wage. That’s my kind of government- cheap and discovering the realities that the private sector has already been dealing with. The taxpayers can no longer afford a government, so it’s good to see that some in the government are actually finding this out. Hopefully, the mayor won’t get the tax hike he’s looking for.
I’m always hearing how great Castro is because he gave the Cuban’s free health care that is better than our supposedly awful system. Apparently, Cuba’s trying to head off a “rare cholera outbreak.” If the healthcare system is so good, what’s the worry about socialists? Maybe it has something to do with medicine shortages because other countries aren’t giving broke Cuba free medicine on credit anymore. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Soviet Union can’t afford to carry Cuba anymore because it went so broke it couldn’t even afford to carry itself. In any case, I do pray that they get this outbreak under control. The people of Cuba have a hard enough time just living. A cholera outbreak would be devastating to the good people who are enslaved by socialism. Good luck Cuban people and down with the Castro brothers.
