Jennifer Waters at MarketWatch is on the Supreme Court beat. She writes about a case called Kirtsaeng v. John Wiley and Sons. If the Supreme Court rules wrongly on this, we will lose our right to sell our own things due to copyright law. Things “like electronics, books, artwork, furniture, CDs and DVDs” wouldn’t be able to sold without permission from the copyright holders of these products.
The case stems from Supap Kirtsaeng’s college experience. A native of Thailand, Kirtsaeng came to America in 1997 to study at Cornell University. When he discovered that his textbooks, produced by Wiley, were substantially cheaper to buy in Thailand than they were in Ithaca, N.Y., he rallied his Thai relatives to buy the books and ship them to him in the United States.
He then sold them on eBay, making upward of $1.2 million, according to court documents.
Wiley, which admitted that it charged less for books sold abroad than it did in the United States, sued him for copyright infringement. Kirtsaeng countered with the first-sale doctrine.
As a fellow Cornell alum, I have to say, I wish this guy was there when I had to buy textbooks. The thing is, they may actually rule wrongly on this one. Don’t take commonsense for granted when it comes to the Supreme Court, especially a Supreme Court that upheld Obamacare. If this is legal, then why wouldn’t you be able to buy cheaper drugs in Canada and sell them in America? I’m not saying we should be able to buy drugs in Canada. Just that this is a question that the Supreme Court will need to consider during this case.

Darden Restaurants, which include Olive Gardens, Red Lobsters and Long Horn Steakhouses, is experimenting with how to get around the extreme costs that will pummel them with the implementation of Obamacare. They are cutting work schedules for many employees, thus making more of them part time. That way Darden can get around the rules of the Obamacare mandates and save money. Obama says he’s for the little guy, but it is indeed the little guy who will take it on the chin. He’ll get fewer hours and fewer benefits. So much for “you can keep your insurance and your doctor.” You’re part time sucker.
In a similar story, the “CEO of real estate company Westgate Resorts has threatened to fire some employees if Barack Obama is reelected and carries out his plan to raise taxes on the so-called rich.” This is one way to get your employees to vote right, but this is reality. If it costs more to keep people employed in a terrible economy, then you have to let them go. It’s just a fact. So to all those who think it’s all right to tax the rich, try getting a job from someone who’s poor. Seriously, try. Good luck with that.
This is great, Obama lists a bunch of Wall Street criminals prosecuted under George Bush and then compares Romney to them because he’s trying to cut funding from PBS- also known as the Pinko Broadcasting System. Obama says Romney’s trying to kill Big Bird. Now, I’ve thought about this. Why would anyone want to kill Big Bird? While there is probably a lot of meat, I imagine it would be so dry you’d end up with a bad case of cottonmouth. That doesn’t sound like a good meal to me.
Romney’s Response
Now, Big Bird is telling Obama to take down the childish ad because Sesame Street is non-partisan. That’s good of them. The other thing to think about is that those who run Sesame Street are billionaires. They’ve inexplicably received over a million dollars of Obama stimulus money, and it was proven that it created about 1.7 jobs. That’s not even two jobs. Good use of taxpayer money Obama.
Here’s some coverage of a New York Times story that seems to celebrate the habit of giving poor kids ADHD Drugs without diagnosing the disease. I’ve done a lot of work on this travesty, and this is downright evil. These drugs affect the neurotransmitters in the brain like cocaine, and for children with too much energy, it might indeed settle them down. However, in the end, they become addicted, and living without the drugs as they age out of the system, they very often suffer from depression. In fact, ADHD drugs are very similar in nature to anti-depressants. Too often, to cure that depression in adolescent years, children self-medicate with hardcore narcotics like cocaine, crack, meth and whatever they can get their hands on. These schools passing out these drugs to get kids settled down in class aren’t worried about what happens to these kids later, but that doesn’t mean these drugs aren’t dangerous. And giving these drugs out without diagnoses and calling it a good thing is just wrong.
Here’s the scoop. We live much more sedentary lifestyles than we did when everyone worked the farms. As a result, children aren’t getting enough exercise as they play with computers and video games rather than playing outside. As a result, these kids need to move and can’t sit still in class. The solution is to get them to expend that energy rather than to suppress it with stimulant drugs that are highly addictive. Exercise pumps oxygenated blood into the brain that actually has a much healthier effect on the brain than the drugs that only serve to mask the main problem. Kids need to expend that energy.
At George Mason University, Obama found another way to attack Mitt Romney for being against the Obamacare’s provision that forces all insurance policies to pay for contraception and abortion drugs. He said that Romney joined “the far right of his party to support a bill that would allow any employer to deny contraceptive coverage to their employees. I mean, think about that – your boss telling you what’s best for you health and safety.” Christians should not have to pay for this because of a government mandate that violates the 1st Amendment. If you don’t like the fact that your boss is a Christian, get a new job liberal. I’m sure there’s some unemployed person out there who would be happy to take your job, even if it means he’ll have to be oppressed under the thumb of, gasp, a Christian.
Jack Welch, the former CEO of GE, back when the company was great, told Chris Matthews that he thought the Chicago boys manipulated the Bureau of Labor Statistics to lower the unemployment rate by 0.3% with only about 114,000 new jobs. Chris Matthews flipped out on this. The video is here. In any case, now Jack Welch is taking his column from Fortune Magazine and Reuters because they’ve attacked him. In fact, as reported by Tim Sprinkle, the editor of Fortune Magazine told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that “he feels the state of the U.S. economy is ‘exactly the opposite of what Jack Welch is saying. Things are actually improving.’” When Jack Welch was the CEO of GE, it was the most highly valued company in the world. The man knows business- so take that you Fortune Magazine Obama sycophants. No Jack Welch for you.
If you want more proof that Obama is trying to replace the American electorate with a bunch of illegally imported Mexicans, check this out. He dedicated a Cesar Chavez National Monument the other day, raved about the guy and took part in the “Si, se puede” chants. For those of you who don’t know, Cesar Chavez was a Communist Labor Organizer. It fits fine with Obama’s past as a Red Diaper baby, but during an election, wouldn’t one try to hide the fact that he was raised as a communist by communists? That’s how clueless and arrogant Obama is. By the way, it’s been reported that when Obama came off the debate stage last week, he felt like he’d won. How embarrassingly dumb and un-self-aware must he be? Don’t answer that.
Wesley Smith reports that “Belgian Doctors Brag about harvesting organs from the euthanized.” This is where the moral slippery slope leads. If it’s all right to kill the unborn because they’re inconvenient, why isn’t it OK to kill the living who are inconvenient? And if you’re euthanizing the inconvenients, why can’t you take their organs? And with the ever-increasing demand for organs, how hard is it to find more inconveniently living people to euthanize and take their organs? That’s the culture of death my friends. It sounds like Europe is taking a page from China where they steal organs from religious dissidents who disappear and are never seen again. If you’re religious in China, you’re inconvenient, but your organs will get good money on the international body-parts market.
A GOP candidate is protesting the Philly School where the student was persecuted by a union-thug teacher for wearing a Romney-Ryan shirt to school. Now, Samantha Pawlucy is getting death threats because this brilliantly overpaid teacher compared her shirt to wearing a KKK shirt. The fascistic tendencies of government union stooges know no boundaries, even if it means the potential death of a child. Here’s the story of the student who was bullied by the union thug in case you missed it.

Tony Lee reports about an Obamacare provision that, as of October 1, 2012, means that hospitals that serve Medicare patients will be fined as much as $125,000 for readmitting patients within 30 days of their having been released. Do you realize the implications of this provision? Older folks with a chronic issue oftentimes end up in the hospital more than once in a month, but hospitals will be fined if they readmit them. Think about that. Obama pretends that the $716 billion dollars that he cut from Medicare won’t hurt service, but here is proof it will. Those cuts are cuts in the government’s willingness to pay the doctors. Since doctors don’t work for free, there will be fewer Medicare doctors and facilities, especially if these facilities will be fined for treating those that truly need treatment. Obama will fine the hospitals if they do their job and try to prevent you from dying. Keep that in mind oldsters. Obama’s trying to keep the government solvent by letting you die.
Obama recently said that one of the reasons they passed Obamacare was to give contraception and abortion drugs to women for free because it saves money. It only saves money if the government is now taking responsibility for the treatment of every child born. If that’s the case, then every child that isn’t born does indeed save money I guess, but isn’t this a violation of God’s commandments? First, murder is definitely a violation. But what about His commandment to procreate? If we don’t replace our population, our population will die. We’re already barely at a replacement birthrate. Without people to work and pay the taxes later on, won’t our economy collapse? Of course it will, and that’s what Obama wants- equal distribution of misery. If all countries are third world nations, then America won’t be so exceptional I guess.
The US Department of Agriculture did a diversity-training workshop with a bunch of Obama’s Chicago consultants who were paid $200,000. One of the activities was to have the government workers chant, “Our forefathers were illegal immigrants.” Good to know our government likes the people that pay the freight so much that they want to replace us with people that don’t belong here and can’t pay taxes because they won’t have social security numbers. I’m not feeling the love Obama.
