Unsinking the Titanic: Repairing the Hole that is America’s Debt Dilemma

 The Problem

There is a war of ideologies being waged on the American political scene.  Those on the left and right sides of the political spectrum are simply unable to come to a viable compromise concerning prominent socioeconomic issues of today.  In the meantime, while the politicians in Washington fight, the director of the Congressional Budget Office—Douglas W. Elmendorf—warned in his 2011 Long-Term Budget Outlook that the United States is headed towards the biggest economic downfall since World War II.  He testified:

Policymakers will need to increase revenues substantially as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), decrease spending significantly from projected levels, or adopt some combination of those two approaches to keep deficits and debts from climbing to unsustainable levels.

The CBO reports that for 2011, the federal government faced a 1.3 trillion dollar budget shortfall—the third largest to date—continuing its trend since 1969 of spending more than it takes in.  Only in the years 2009 and 2010 were the deficits greater—those years produced the largest budget deficits in modern history.  Elmendorf recommended early action and more sacrifices “for the benefit of younger workers and future generations.”  Simply put, the U.S. economy is in BIG trouble!

America, the most prosperous nation in the world, is currently the biggest debt owner in the world.  This colossal debt is reprehensible and represents instability and insolvency to our lenders.  Our looming liabilities threaten to eliminate the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, and the loss of this status would be catastrophic.  It would bring an instant devaluing of our investments, drastically drive up the cost of goods and services—hyperinflation—and create a radical change in American life as we know it.  All Americans would experience a significantly lower quality of life.  The idea of the American dollar collapsing should cause all Americans to take pause.  This is NOT the “hope and change” American’s bargained for.

This Is What One Trillion Dollars Look Like

Jay Richards[1] explained that “Money has value only if trading partners believe it has value.  This is why currency quickly becomes stove fuel when people stop trusting it.”[2]  Our colossal debt is not the result of insufficient tax revenues because we are taxed at a level sufficient enough to pay for the necessary functions of government.  America’s problem is excessive and wasteful spending.  Any average American who has lived beyond his or her means could warn the federal government of the end result of its imprudence—reduce spending or risk losing everything.  At a whopping $13,561,623,030,891 of debt—according to the 2010 U.S. Treasury report—multiple years of deficit spending by the federal government has left our children to bear the burden of our irresponsibility and profligacy.  The interest alone on our nearly $14 trillion dollar debt make our meager attempts at debt solvency unrealistic.

The Cause

Many on the left, namely Democrats, choose to blame President George W. Bush for the economies troubles.  On the right, Republicans give President Obama the brunt of the blame.  Yet the administrations of both of these presidents, with their big spending and bailouts, and massive expansions of government have exacerbated the debt problem.  We also owe a huge debt of thanks to Democrat President, Bill Clinton, for our more recent recession and debt fiasco.  Back in 1995, the regulatory revisions made to the 1977 “Community Reinvestment Act” under the Clinton administration greatly weakened the housing market.  Initially the law was enacted to ensure that banks were fairly addressing the lending and banking needs of those people in low and moderate-income neighborhoods that they accepted deposits from.  Yet the Clinton administration’s 1995 revisions forced banks to lend hundreds of billions of dollars to people with little or no credit, and even people with bad credit—lending to these high risk borrowers under the guise of “the convenience and needs of the communities.”[3]

In other words, “if banks wanted to continue to indulge from the hand of government-created money and insurance (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation), then they had to prove to government agencies that they were lending these indulgences to even the un-creditworthy in their community.”  The revisions to the Community Investment Act became a powerful mandate that reshaped lending practices.  This act was a recipe for economic disaster that the banks initially opposed because they didn’t want to be “forced” into bad lending.  Regardless, congress passed the initiative, alluring banks into lending big money to people with little or no credit.  To his credit, in 2003 President Bush attempted greater oversight of the two major government-sponsored lenders of the subprime, or risky loans—Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac—yet Democratic opposition shut his measure down, accusing Bush and the Republicans of all things, racism.  Shocking!  We know the end of this sad story—the 2007 subprime mortgage crisis led to the collapsing of a housing bubble that brought the banking and real estate industry to their knees.

To add insult to injury, the Federal Reserve Board’s response to the mortgage crisis was grossly irresponsible and unethical.  Wayne Grudem noted that “The Federal Reserve decided to pump reserves into the financial system by purchasing $1.2 trillion in assets, including $750 billion in mortgage-backed securities from companies like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac . . . leading to increased inflation and thereby robbing everyone in society of the value of their dollars and their contract.”[4]  Simply put, the government rewarded reckless and irresponsible behavior by loaning hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money to bailout the big banks and the mortgage agencies, with more than half of  the money going to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Economist Thomas DiLorenzo described that the current financial debacles are simply the “chickens coming home to roost after more than 30 years of progressive government interference and artificially deformed markets.”[5]  The current crisis is not a sudden or surprising occurrence, but the eventual result of salvation politics.[6]

No one is innocent in this scandal of magnificent proportions, not even the voters.  The recent political protest movement, Occupy Wall Street (OWL), self-righteously protest the “Wall Street” bankers and the “1%” of the rich.  Yet these crooks are the ones who knowingly elect politicians who extort money from others to subsidize irresponsibility and greed—they vote for big government.  OWL’s voted for crony capitalists who afforded political favors and preferential treatment for their friends at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  Many of them voted for our current president, Obama.  He handed over a trillion dollars in taxpayer funds to bailout Fannie and Freddie, and the auto-industry and banks they now protest!  Fight the source not the symptom.

These OWL’s are the same who continue to vote for increased government spending on federally funded entitlements—the biggest debt busters of all.  Currently, the federal government is scrambling to fund its existing entitlements in Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, retirement pensions, and welfare.  The funding of future entitlements is an even greater concern.  If the Federal Reserve continues the practice of pumping dollars into the system to keep up with government expenditures, Wayne Grudem asserts that “we can soon expect to see record high interest rates and/or inflation, coupled with the collapse of many entitlements.”[7]According to the White House Office of Management and Budget, entitlement spending as a percentage of GDP has now doubled that of U.S. spending on national defense.  An increase in entitlement spending and a decrease in spending on national defense, a core constitutional function of government, indicates clearly—our government’s priorities are misguided.[8]

Ethical Implications

Spending of this sort is immoral; it is sure to hurt the poor and others who are dependent upon the government for their livelihood.  America’s reckless entitlement spending has baited many American’s into dependency and has promised future payments that won’t be worth the paper they are printed on.  Even the social security program—the biggest entitlement program to date—is set to have major problems, and soon!  Started under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1930’s New Deal, the idea behind social security was admirable.  The pay-as-you-go structure of the system worked well as long as there were more people paying into the system than receiving benefits, and it has been a lifeline to many retired and disabled Americans.  The program was designed to be self-sustaining, and it was in 1935 when it was first implemented.

However, the program did not take into account factors such as population spikes, rising life expectancy, skyrocketing healthcare costs, and a smaller working-aged population in comparison to a much larger elderly population.  With the retirement of millions of baby boomers[9] on the horizon, the ratio of workers to retirees will soon shift.  Additionally, many of the young and disabled recipients of social security/disability insurance and benefits have never paid into the system, adding to the imbalanced debt to income ratio.  According to the 2011 annual report by the program’s Board of Trustees, within the next 10 years, the interest and income received from payroll taxes will no longer be sufficient to cover expenditures to Social Security beneficiaries.[10]

Even though working citizens are required by law to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes from their wages, they have no promise or guarantee from the government that in their elderly years, they will receive benefits.  Social Security reform should be at the top of every elected officials list.  Reform is needed to end the government’s policy of taxing the income of working citizens on the premise that they may or may not receive future payments.  It’s like the government is playing the scratch-off lottery tickets with other peoples earned income—and like the lottery, not everyone’s a winner. The federal government should, at a minimum, allow citizens the option of opting out of the current high risk government system with proof that they are allocating a comparable retirement savings elsewhere.

Contrary to popular belief, America is not too big to fail.  However, on her current path, she is a sinking ship.  Thankfully, it’s not too late for America.  If only she would repent of her sinful monetary squandering and return to God, because only God himself can unsink the Titanic.  If the American government does not curb its appetite for spending and end its experimentations and flirtations with socialism, she will become as all the great empires before her, a celebrated chronicle of a fallen nation.  Our current president, Barack Obama, has expressed a desire to “spread the wealth around” in what I suppose is an effort to minimize the gaps between the rich and the poor, alleviating the effects of poverty.  He has pushed for increased government control over schools, banks, housing, and healthcare—to name a few.  He apparently has not heard of the disastrous results of the first socialism experiment of early European settlers in America—the Pilgrims.  Widespread poverty and starvation resulted and nearby Indians had to bail them out!

Enough with the mechanics; America’s problem is more than political, it’s moral.   America is facing a very real ethical dilemma.   I say this because not all of our spending is the result of greed and politics.  Some is the result of good intentions but bad methodology.  Well-intended people have supported policies that have had egregious, unintended consequences for American industry as a whole.  Much of our federal government entitlement and social program spending were efforts to help those in need—the poor, the indigent, the socially rejected and economically depraved.  For example, President FDR’s New Deal government programs were meant to end the Great Depression, but instead deepened and lengthened it.  Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty,” started in the mid-1960’s cost trillions of dollars to date and has not worked.  It has essentially turned America into a welfare state.[11]

As a compassionate people who care about the poor, sick, and elderly, America cannot afford not to pursue entitlement reform.  Excessive entitlement spending is intricately related to other issues that adversely affect the poor, such as an unfair tax code, skyrocketing healthcare costs, and rising costs of goods and services due to inflation.  Talks of reducing entitlements sound cruel to some Americans.  Some believe that if the federal government cuts entitlement spending, the poor, disabled, single parents, women, and minority groups in this nation will suffer.  But to date, the welfare state has caused economic and social problems even worse than those it was meant to eradicate.  The unintended consequences of increased government control through massive entitlement programs are: “the breakdown of the family and illegitimacy, especially among poor and urban minorities, and white Appalachians—and creating cycles of dependency that transfer from one generation to the next.”[12]

Besides that, welfare system abuses have exploded the number of voluntarily unemployed because welfare is generally a disincentive to work.  It has caused anger and class warfare, and a poverty trap that is difficult to escape.  It has caused despair, hopelessness, and envy.   Long-term dependency upon welfare is degrading and has adversely affected poor black and white communities all around the country.  In black American homes, illegitimate children, poverty, and illiteracy rates are greater today than they were in the 1920’s when racism was rampant and blacks faced harsh discrimination and vast societal disparities.[13]   The harsh reality is, though federal spending has skyrocketed over the past few decades as a result of entitlement spending, we have zilch to show for our looming debt except generations of dependent citizens of a welfare state.  We need serious reforms to the welfare system and policies that would promote a strong job market to draw those on welfare into the workforce.

Suggestions, Solutions, Reflections

If we as a nation truly want to do right by our poor, we must urge our politicians to get out of salvation politics and leave the “saving” of the poor and needy of society to the faith-based communities.  A safety net of government services can be a good thing, but it profits no one if we put so much on it that it rips under the bureaucratic pressure of big government.   If our federal government truly respected American citizens, then they would stop robbing us and selling us back our own goods at a higher price!  They would end the practice of deficit spending for programs and entitlements that do more harm than help and pass a balanced budget amendment requiring the federal government to exercise responsibility and restraint concerning its outrageous spending.  All Americans are expected to live within their means; therefore, so should the government we elect.

Seemingly, our current President, Barack Obama, has a vision for America different than the vision of the founders of the great American experiment.  They envisioned a nation of free peoples whom—unlike all the nations before her— would govern themselves and share in ruling.  American colonists became disenfranchised and disillusioned by monarchial British rule; therefore, personal liberty and limited government were central themes to the founding documents, the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.  Many nations have since emulated the American model and have tried to duplicate America’s ingenuity and success.

Yet President Obama envisions big government and limited liberty because he has no confidence that Americans are capable enough to make responsible choices with their money and with their lives.  He believes in a ruling class, the government.  He promotes class distinctions by demonizing the rich and demoralizing the poor.  His ideology is reminiscent of German revolutionary and socialist Karl Marx.  Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro is quoted as stating this of Marxism;

Marxism taught me what society was.  I was like a blindfolded man in a forest, who doesn’t even know where the north or south is.  If you don’t eventually come to truly understand the history of the class struggle, or at least have a clear idea that society is divided between the rich and the poor, and that some people subjugate and exploit other people, you’re lost in a forest, not knowing anything.[14]

But the grand communist experiment was just a secularized attempt to establish God’s Kingdom on earth, but without the God of heaven.  Richards notes that:

Marx’s story has the main elements of the Christian story: primeval paradise, fall, redemption, eternal paradise.  It’s just stripped of reverences to God, sin, Jesus, and the afterlife.”[15]  Christ established his Church, and we are expected to be salt and light—reflecting God’s kingdom though sin and death are among us.  Yet our good works will never bring about God’s kingdom.[16]  It’s a delusion to believe that we can build a utopia if we try hard enough.[17]  This vision doesn’t take in account human sinfulness and God’s mercy.  Jesus Christ will establish his Kingdom and if we try, we will not only fail, but “do more harm than good.[18]

I believe Marx, Castro, and Obama genuinely want a world in which the ordering of society is more fair and just.  But when we speak of building a just society, we must ask ourselves, “just compared with what?  It does no good to tear down a society that is ‘unjust’ compared with the Kingdom of God if that society is more just than any of the ones that will replace it.”[19]  Compared to God’s Kingdom, every society gets failing grades.[20] Therefore, to hate capitalism and prefer socialism or communism is not more just.  Socialism has proven to bring greater poverty and injustice among the people and “never has there been a greater gap between ideas and outcomes than in communism.”[21]  Jay Richards notes that socialists, “talk a good talk, denouncing inequality and defending the poor, and despite the nasty outcome of their experiments, they can still get a pass from those who sympathize with their ideals.”[22]

The current administration, under the lead of President Obama, should end its love affair with socialism and end his policies of taxing and spending.  The more that the government does for its people, the more dependent the people become and less likely they are to provide for themselves.  Without the safety net of big government, out-of-wedlock pregnancies look less attractive, hard work becomes necessary to eat, saving for hard times becomes a priority, community becomes important again to care for the least in society, and the government can focus on governing and protecting our freedoms.  America is still a great nation, and with the right leadership, the ideas upon which she was founded upon will again be respected.

Will Blacks or RINO’s learn from NY-9 & Nevada Election?

“Poverty hits 15%, food stamps up 41%. Trillion $ deficit past 3 yrs. Mr. President, your policies have failed, be a man, take responsibility” Allen West.

I wonder if blacks will learn anything from the NY-9 Jews and defected from the Democratic Party, Shoot I wonder if some of the RINO’s will learn from this election and defect from being a RINO. So many lessons here. Time to get to work on duplicating this election.

People must learn to Vote their Values not vote their color or race. When you see such an over whelming percentage of one group of people voting the same, even when it is voting against their best interest and their personal values it is time to STOP and rethink what you are doing.

Ask your self these questions:

  • Do you believe that the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability
and responsibility must be honored?
  • Do you believe in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or
disability?
  • Do you believe in free enterprise and that encouraging individual initiative will continue to bring this nation
opportunity, economic growth and prosperity?
  • Do you believe government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they
earn?
  • Do you believe the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be
performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least?
  • Do you believe in life? The life of a baby begins in the womb and we should cultivate a culture of life and acceptance and not death and rejection?
  • Do you believe the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people?
  • Do you believe America must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative
ideas to meet the challenges of changing times?
  • Do you believe in Traditional marriage, one man, one woman at one time?
  • Do you believe in American values and that we should preserve our national strength and pride while working to
extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world?
  • Do you believe in God, and our freedoms come from our Creator not man. Do you believe in a Biblical Worldview?

If you can answer yes to all or most of these questions then let me ask you who do you vote for?

Those, who up hold and legislate for these ideas which would be Republicans (for the most part) or Democrats who go against almost every single one of the above principles?

We are free thinkers and it is time we get back to the basics and think for ourselves.

“Be not intimidated…nor suffer yourselves to be wheedled out of your liberties
by any pretense of politeness, delicacy, or decency. These, as they are often used, are but three different names for hypocrisy, chicanery and cowardice.”
– John Adams (1735-1826) Founding Father, 2nd US President 1765

Anyway I said all that just to ask will people learn from this or just dig in deeper and let America fall deeper into the pit of hell.

It’s not easy being green

It’s not easy being green
By Hassan Nurullah

Two and a half years ago, I wrote an article laden with examples of the American liberals’ disdain for free debate and resistance against allowing competitive viewpoints being weighed in the marketplace of ideas. We saw the tally of new jobs in the month of August hit a number that had not been reached since September of 2010: zero!

Two of the last twelve months have registered zero net job growth. Let me repeat that, zero net jobs! The overwhelming majority of the rest of the year’s jobs numbers have been…underwhelming. At what point will it begin to dawn on the Democrats that their ideas are fundamentally flawed?

A major plank bolstering the President’s platform, as it pertains to job creation, has been the fanciful idea of a green economy flush with new jobs. Mr. Obama was so committed to this whimsical notion, he added a new layer to an already top heavy bureaucracy, something called a “Green Jobs Czar.” He then appointed an avowed socialist to inhabit this position, with the inane desire that said socialist should create a new green capitalism driven job engine.

A sizable chunk of the taxpayer’s ill-conceived stimulus money (billions in fact) was then ear-marked as seed cash to kick start this new green economic juggernaut. No one on the left seemed to think this odd. In fact, leftist controlled media did all it could to drown out the impassioned warnings against this verdant folly as sober-minded economists critical of the stratagem clucked there tongues in bemused disbelief.

It has been my experience in studying such things that when an idea is truly good, there is no dearth of people eager to put their own money where their mouth is, dreams of windfalls dancing through their heads. Good job-creating business ideas don’t need federal backing, they need good lawyers and security professionals to keep competitors from stealing them.

The President and his cohorts squandered the people’s money with his green initiatives, giving money to companies the administration bragged about that the business stars of ABC’s reality investment show, Shark Tank, would have laughed out of the studio. So, now we see these same green companiesdropping like flies. Laying people off, in some cases, actually exporting jobs to other countries, but mostly going out of business all together.

In the case of one strong domestic business concern, Gibson Guitars, we have seen the administration literally telling the company’s CEO he should outsource jobs. Suggesting if the wood processing work being done in America by American workers was done in the countries of origin where the wood is imported from, his Department of Justice inflicted strife, would cease.

This sort of wrong-headedness is the thing really responsible for our floundering economy. The left is completely indifferent to facts and reason. The entire green idea is fueled by pseudo science and detachment from reality. The left prefers speculative fiction to hard pragmatic scientific data.

It really stems from the liberals’ propensity for worshiping the creation rather than the Creator. The media serves as the leftist religion’s high priestess, sacrificing the truth for misguided ideology, utilizing electronic priestcraft and rhetorical slight of hand to hide the dismal failures the left continue to pile up. Anything to keep from using the resources God provided for man’s use.

The creation the left worships more than any other, is man himself. The liberal truly believes man has a great deal more power than he does. Even though — as I have pointed out in earlier articles — man’s cities, towns and roads make up a scant 2–3 percent of the earths surface, the left is convinced that we are mucking with the planet in some irreparable manner.

What monumental insolence shown towards the One the founders saw as the true Author of our republic. Like man’s fiat money, the insubstantial medium created by governmental Ponzi schemes that we now find our nation at the mercy of, liberal insolence is backed by nothing. God gave us gold and silver, oil and land, real wealth and we rebuke it for our own idea. Then watch in wonder as we stand at the precipice of losing our status as the worlds reserve currency, which when it happens, will bring a swift end to our hubris.

As it was suggested back in the 19th century in the Cleveland, Ohio, Plain Dealer, I would prefer that miners furnish my money. As our fiat money buys us less and less, gold and silver have both not only retained their value, their buying power has increased.

The United States has been blessed with oil, coal, natural gas and other resources in abundance — the most inexpensive and efficient sources of energy available to us — and yet we choose to follow the erroneous idea that it is harmful to a planet so large we are less than fleas beneath a man’s heel in comparison. In haughty self-worship, the left does far more harm to the poor they claim to care for, than good for the planet that truly does not need their help.

“Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.” Job 38:1-4

As I reflect on this day we celebrate the nation’s workers, I cannot conceive of a President whose policies have been more deleterious for the American worker than those implemented by President Barack Obama and his party in the last few years. He and the leftists keep leading us towards leaning on our own understanding, in an attempt to recreate what we already have in abundance, instead of trusting in our hearts that the Lord has provided the resources we need.

I am reminded of the saying made famous by Norm Franz’ in his book“Money and Wealth in the New Millennium”: “Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves,” I would presume to add that a “green” economy is the money of fools, which brings to mind another dictum concerning fools and their money…

The Anti-American President – A Concise List

They say oh it cannot happen here in America, but it has already been happening and now we are at a point of failure is NOT an option. Remember in 1932 Change is also what Germany was looking for, and they said Hitler didn’t really mean what he said either. I have long said Obama is no idiot, He may be only a puppet on a string but he is well aware of who his puppet master is and the masters planto “globalize” America. One of those end time prophecies is There would bea move toward a global government (Daniel2:40-44; 7:23; Revelation13:7-8). Theformer Roman Empire which encompassed present-day Europe would revive and Oh wait I am on a tangent Let me let you read this article first :) Then at the end maybe I will rafinish my tangent or…. make it an article in itself. Just Know that Jesus is the only way to eternal life. Have you asked yourself If I die tomorrow where would I go?

The Anti-American President

By Boyd Richard Boyd

Obviously something is rotten on Pennsylvania Avenue; no intelligent American president would do the things Obama has done.  There has been talk of his inexperienceincompetence, or just plain stupidity to explain his Bizarro-administration.  However, Obama is not incompetent; he is an intelligent anti-American president.  Obama is not a failure at his job — his job is the failure of our country.

Liberty-minded folk have several reasons why we assume another person is incompetent rather than malicious.  One reason is our belief that a person is “innocent until proven guilty”; another is the natural presumption others are similar to ourselves.  Unfortunately, these ideas have been coupled with a pair of dangerously pragmatic moral equivalencies foisted upon us all: “Who am I to judge?” and “They couldn’t possibly mean that.”  As long as there is any possibility that Obama is just in over his head and doesn’t mean what he says and does, many will excuse him on those grounds.

Every American must judge Obama and his ideas and understand he does mean what he says, and realize there is no excuse, save one — Barack Obama is an anti-American in thought and deed.

Obama gets dreams from his socialist father.  His mother was a fellow traveler.  Obama lived in anti-American Indonesia as a child.  Later, granddad decided Obama needed a Communist mentor.  O got into Harvard on the recommendation of anti-Semitic Khalid al Mansour, an adviser to Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal.  In college O chose his friends carefully — “the more politically active black students, foreign students, Chicanos, Marxist professors and structural feminists.”  As a professor he taught Marxist Saul Alinsky tactics, and as a constitutional scholar he believed that there are fundamental flaws in the Constitution, such as restraint on governmental power.  As a community organizer and counsel he pushed sub-prime mortgages which helped buckle our economy.

He’s a trench-mate with voter-fraudsters ACORN and quasi-commie SEIU.  He had house parties and sat on boards with an unrepentant, revolutionary communist, who probably ghostwrote one of O’s autobiographies.  He attended the social-justice church of Jeremiah Wright, where he was preached at on collective salvation and black liberation.  Illinois state senator and communism-lover Alice Palmer, picked O as her chief of staff.   As a U.S. senator, he had the most leftist voting record.  His wife’s only source of American pride came in her 40s as a result of O’s own success.  He was endorsed by the Communist Party in 2004, and in 2008 Obama got CPUSA’s endorsement again, basically running on the CPUSA platform.  (And yes, CPUSA have endorsed him again for 2012!)

And this was before the campaign and presidency.  Does his bio reflect incompetence or something more sinister?  Does his journey sound like one of an all-American or an anti-American?

In his own words, during the campaign:

Sept, 17 2007 to SEIU:

“[Y]our agenda’s been my agenda[.]“

November 2007 to ACORN:

“I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career.”

December 2007 addressing ACORN and other community organizations:

“[W]e’re going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda, We’re going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America.”

January 5, 2008 to SEIU

“I’ve been working with the SEIU before I was elected to anything … We are going to paint the nation purple with SEIU. SEIU, I’m glad you are with me. Let’s together change the country. SEIU! SEIU!”

January 17, 2008

“[I]f somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can, it’s just that it will bankrupt them…under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

May 16, 2008 in Oregon:

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK…That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

June 3, 2008 in St Paul Minnesota

“This was the moment — this was the time –when we came together to remake this great nation”

July 13, 2008 to La Raza:

“[W]e rise and fall together as one people…And together, we won’t just win an election — we will transform this nation.”

October 12, 2008 to Joe the Plumber:

“I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

October 30, 2008 at the University of Mississippi, Columbia:

“We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America[.]”

How many Marxist groups will he share agendas with before it’s apparent?  How many times will he say he wants to change, remake, or fundamentally transform America before we believe he wants to?

Almost everything Obama says and does is a scripted, controlled, and choreographed event.  The man causes relentless instability, yet it is all planned.  We know where his ideas come from: the George Soros-funded, Hillary Clinton-founded Center for American Progress and Joel Rogers’ Apollo Alliance with help from its ex-Weather Underground co-founder, among others.

As president he’s appointed the following foxes as hen house guards:

  • A former SEIU member who kind of agrees with Mao…as manufacturing czar.
  • A former commissioner of Socialist International, eco-profiteer, and CAP board member…as global warming czar.
  • An ACORN defender and Obama’s private attorney…as ethics and transparency czar.
  • A revolutionary communist…as green jobs czar.
  • A power-lusting control freak longing to delimit choices…as regulatory czar.
  • An anti-capitalist Chicken Little peddling junk science…as science czar.
  • A man who thinks terrorists represent the legitimate needs and grievances of ordinary people…as counter-terrorism czar.
  • An anti-Israel “poverty breeds terrorism” theorist…as U.S. ambassador to the U.N.
  • A woman who believes that Congress can abridge free speech and another who thinks the court of appeals is where policy is made…as Supreme Court justices.
  • An SEIU VP, activist for the Working Families Party, and political director for Bertha Lewis, the head of ACORN’s New York chapter…as director of the office of public affairs to help push the president’s agenda.
  • A man who gives guns to drug cartels while allowing them to smuggle drugs in, who refuses to protect our borders while litigating any state which tries to defend its own as and turns a blind eye to voter intimidation…as attorney general.
  • A woman worried about white right-wing extremists while she has Grandma groped at the airport…as homeland security chief.
  • A woman who proposes that the U.S. has the right to protect “Palestine” from Israel…as a foreign policy adviser.

SEIU president and Marxist Andy Stern and the AFL-CIO’s Dick Trumka are/were two of the most frequent White House guests.  Obama directs NASA’s chief to perform Muslim outreach.  The EPA will handle cap and trade after Congress said no.  The borders won’t be secured until O gets amnesty for millions of potential voters with no allegiance to America.  O imposed a drilling ban for oil, then said the judge could fly a kite when the judge lifted the ban.  Brazil purchased some of those rigs, and Obama wants to be a big consumer of Brazil’s oil.  His administration may have facilitated the murder of a border agent and is trying to suppress second-amendment rights, as a result.

His Tea Party mockery, the takeover of industries, the contortions of  Obamacare, the slow response to BP’s oil spill, the tens of thousands of new regulations, the aggressive deficit spending, the Fed’s printing sprees, bowing to and borrowing from anti-Americans — all are part of the blueprint.  Even his petulance, arrogance, constant golfing, and “let them eat cake” attitude are part of the plan.  Obama understands how grating such behavior is to any American who doesn’t worship strongmen.  His glaring at Netanyahu after throwing Israel under the bus, his browbeating the Supreme Court during the SOTU, and of course, his Mussolini-like poses with his chin touching the ceiling are all calculated to intimidate some into a cult of personality and alienate others.  And he has done so much more.

Obama has never stood for individualism, capitalism, or liberty.  Everything he does has the reek of statism, collectivism, and tyranny, but not because he is an incompetent bumbler — though he may be in many areas, sans TOTUS — it’s because he is a statist and a collectivist and the citizens of our country naïvely gave the reins of power to a tyrant.

To paraphrase the Wizard of Oz, an honest Obama would say to us, “Oh, no, my fellow world citizens, I’m a very good anti-American president.  I’m just a very bad American president.”

The Debt Downgrade is the Best Thing that could have Happened to America

transparent

NEW YORK -

There are many who would think this title is crazy, but that’s because they may not understand the full scope of what is happening. The country’s debt has tripled in the last few years from $5 trillion to near $15 trillion, and all the President and the fools in Congress can talk about is cutting the rate of growth of government.  Our national debt is at 100% of GDP, meaning our national debt exceeds our economic output.

The President and Congress pretend that, because the debt will only grow by $7 trillion over the next 10 years instead of $9 trillion, they’ve actually fixed the problem.  Fools, all of them.  We have over $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, which is more than six times the debt.

This is part of the reason The S&P  downgraded our debt.

Dave Ramsey made a good point: “If the US Government was a family, they would be making $58,000 a year, they spend $75,000 a year and have $327,000 in credit card debt. They are currently proposing big spending cuts to reduce their spending to $72,000 a year.”

Here’s the scoop.  They think that they can monetize the debt by printing money and borrowing more to pay the service on the debt and that the rest of the world is fine with it.  All currencies are based upon the dollar and therefore will be hurt as well.  If we keep on this path, the world will eventually drop the dollar as the reserve currency, thus forcing sovereign nations to sell their dollars for more stable currencies.  This will further erode our dollar’s buying power, thus ushering in hyperinflation.  That’s the real debt ceiling, one that can’t be raised by a vote of a bunch of America-hating congressman who only cares about being re-elected.

Ben Bernanke is a crack head.  Hyperinflation is already here, but because the princes in government took food and energy from the inflation readings, they’re able to pretend it isn’t.  They pretend that, because we have deflation in the things we want and inflation in the things we need, we actually have low inflation.  But when you can’t afford the things you need, you normally have to sacrifice some of the things you want- that’s life.  But crack heads aren’t really acclimated to life and for that reason, Bernanke’s kept the Fed Funds rate near zero, allowing banks to borrow money for free and then invest in the stock market and government bonds instead of lending it to folks that may not be as secure as the government.  Well, the party’s nearing its end.

If he won’t raise the rates, the buyers of bonds will.  With the lowered credit rating, the United States government will have to eventually pay more interest if it is to borrow money by selling bonds.  This will force all the the cost of debt service to be raised for the future, thus forcing the spendaholics in Washington to come to terms with the reality that the US is broke.

Sure, there’s going to be pain for everyone, but it’s a choice between pain now or societal collapse later.  If the dollar falls, all currencies fall, because they’re all based on the dollar.  I don’t mean to sound unpatriotic, but this is the kick in the head Obama needed.  His Marxist teachings haven’t equipped him with the knowledge of economics needed to run the free world.  His education is all theory from Karl Marx, who never worked a day in his life.  He just lived off his buddy Engle’s family money while he theorized a world of wealth redistribution without ever addressing the question that ultimately needs to be answered:  “What do you do when all the wealth is gone?”

We at the Frederick Douglass Foundation of New York are not rooting against America.  We’re rooting against America’s government, which refuses to listen to the will of the people.  Instead of listening to the Tea Party, which is for less government and for a fiscal responsibility, they’ve scoffed at the only people in the United States who are making sense.

Ayesha Kreutz, President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of New York, had this to say “ When I think about America today, this debt crisis and how the left calls us Tea Party folks and Republicans racists and demonize us for disagreeing with socialism and Marxism and communism, I cannot help but think of the last three commandments, EIGHT: ‘You shall not steal.’ – because all big government wants to do is take more of our money.  NINE: ‘You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.’ – because they call all those who oppose Obama’s socialism racists.  TEN: ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s. – because of their tactics of class warfare.”

She went on to say “Our focus should be on revival and focusing hearts and minds on the one and only True living God Jesus Christ.”

Instead, Obama’s been served a nice plate of maggot-infested crow.  Eat up buddy.  The country can’t afford your largesse.  And the rest of the world is getting sick and tired of you too.  On Obama’s 50th birthday, the stock market went down 512 points to signify that investors didn’t like the fact that he was given another $2.4 trillion in borrowed money to blow over the next year and a half to buy votes.  It went down ten points for every year that he will have lived by the time the people of America will get the chance to sign his pink slip in November of 2012.  Hopefully, we’ll still be able to afford the gas to get us to the polls.

Congratulations big guy, you’re the president who earned our country a downgrade on its full faith and credit.  And it wasn’t like President George W. Bush left you with anything less than AAA.  You did this yourself.  America has two paths- shape up or fizzle out.  But let’s not forget, as the rates eventually go up, our dollar will be stronger.  If our leaders won’t do what’s necessary to save our country, the bond vigilantes eventually will.  And since the bond vigilantes are the people that the government refuses to listen to, that’s real democracy in action.  Thank you Standard and Poors.  Maybe now we can avoid societal collapse if our government will STOP SPENDING so much borrowed money.

Oh and here is a great piece by Mark Steyn in the National Review for you to Review if you would like and you should: http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/273876/mad-debt-mark-steyn#

Does the Bible Promote Socialism?

by Providence Crowder

Does the Bible Promote Socialism?

Jesus the Socialist?

Was Jesus a Socialist?

Many people question whether or not Jesus Christ of Nazareth promoted and supported the ideas of a socialist government.  That question can be emphatically answered no.   Socialism can be defined as “an economic theory or system in which the means of production, distribution, and exchange are owned by the community collectively, usually through the state.  It is characterized by production for use rather than profit, by equality of individual wealth, by the absence of competitive economic activity, and, usually, by government determination of investment, prices, and production levels” (World English Dictionary).  By this definition, Jesus can be said to espouse some socialist views, but he does so only within the confines of His Church, not secular government.  Out of love for God and fellow man, Christ taught His followers to voluntarily and charitably give of their possessions to care for and respond to the needs of the most vulnerable in society; the sick, elderly, poor, widow, and orphan.

The visible church, the people of God, was to be a conduit for healing and deliverance through proclaiming the good news that Jesus Christ saves; a message of hope to a lost and dying world.  All who acknowledged and turned from their sin, received Him and placed their trust in His name (whether rich in this world or poor) would be awarded eternal life (Jn. 1:12).  Through Christ’s example, His disciples were taught that preaching the gospel of the Kingdom, the worship of God Almighty, and righteous living were to be primary focuses in this life, not accumulation of wealth or material goods.  The poor were warned not to covet (Lk. 12:13-21) or be anxious about temporal hardships (Phil. 4:6), and the rich were cautioned not to trust in uncertain riches (1 Tim. 6:17) and admonished to give generously.  Because of sin, the poor and the rich alike were both spiritually depraved and in need of salvation.  The Church was tasked to share the gospel, while showing the same care and concern for the needs of all people as Christ did.

The Problem with Socialism

The concept of socialism in government (government sanctioned equality of outcome) is not biblical.  Jesus never proposed that any secular king or government should take on the role of provider or savior.  Government was established by God to punish evil and promote good (Rom. 13:1-5), and administer justice (1 Pt. 2:13-15).  Its function was not to make victims of its citizens by robbing and forcing charitable acts upon the most productive in society to subsidize government prioritized charity; where its citizens were forced to succumb to that government’s definition of equity and fairness concerning one’s fortune, health, and personal sustenance; where acquiring wealth was considered criminal and immoral; where a man’s worth was measured merely by earthly standards; and where Christ was nowhere preached.

Besides increasing poverty through minimizing economic growth and opportunity, socialism creates inequity by placing most societal resources in the hands of a few bureaucratic bandits and politicians who relegate individual freedoms.  Socialism rewards failure and discourages hard work.  Socialism reduces incentive and motivation and encourages mediocrity and laziness.  Scripture taught just the opposite.   Personal responsibility, saving, hard work, and ingenuity were encouraged throughout Scripture and laziness and idleness were rebuked.  The disciples taught that every able-bodied individual was to work and contribute toward their own livelihood.  The Apostle Paul warned against idleness and urged the brethren to follow his example, “In

the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which hereceived from us.  For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.  For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat” (2 Thess. 3:6-10).

Some proponents of socialism claim the advice such as the Apostle Paul gave to the Church at Corinth in His second epistle to them prove equality of outcome is a biblical principle that should be held by all.  The Apostle stated, “

I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others.  For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.   And in this I give advice . . . For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.   For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality.  As it is written, ‘He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack’” (2 Cor. 8:9-13).

Essentially, Paul knew that all wealth belonged to the Lord, and men were mere stewards.  His advice and challenge for believers was to emulate Christ’s selflessness in giving.  People with material wealth, because of their abundance, were in a position to help others.  If everyone followed Christ’s example, then men’s basic needs would be met.  Jesus showed mercy to all people and He especially cared for the poor; He loved them, He rebuked them, He corrected them, He taught them, He fed them.  Believers should do the same.  Generosity was a principle strongly promoted throughout the Bible and the concept of giving was valued, not only so that none should lack anything, but so that money would not become their taskmaster.  Those who gave charitably were considered good stewards (1 Pet. 4:9-10).  Christian giving was always voluntary and

“as each has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion” (2 Cor. 9:7) unlike in socialist governments in which giving is coerced and involuntary.  Biblical charity always involved choice.  God also commanded men that when they gave, they were to “give generously to Him and do so without a grudging heart” (Deut. 15:10).

Wealth is Not Evil

The Bible indicated that certain believers had been entrusted with riches (Abraham, Joseph, David, Solomon, Job, etc.) and others had lived in poverty.  Although Christ encouraged the idea of community and admonished believers to care for the poor, He never guaranteed any man an income, poor or otherwise, nor did He rectify inequalities in material wealth.  In the book of Luke, a man from the crowd asked Christ to make his brother share his wealth with him.  The man demanded, ‘“

Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.’  But Jesus said to him, ‘Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?’  And He said to them, ‘Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses’” (Lk. 12:13-14).

There were “evil” and “good” men in Scripture who were considered rich; therefore, wealth in and of itself was not wicked.  There were wicked and righteous men in Scripture who were deemed poor; therefore poverty in and of itself did not guarantee a higher degree of righteousness.

Christ rebuked men, both rich and poor; those who would make money their idol, those who suffered greed, those who coveted, and those who would seek after riches instead of seeking the kingdom.  Jesus observed men’s attitudes towards money and possessions, and He addressed the very condition of their heart, which Scripture taught was deceitful and wicked (Jer. 17:9).   Over and over again Jesus, through his teachings, redirected mankind away from being consumed with material possessions and the accumulation of them, because serving God and serving possessions were incompatible.  Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money” (Matt. 6:24).

The Necessity of Evangelism

Certainly some modern Christian communities have taken to modeling after the early church at Pentecost, where the believers were said to have given all of their possessions and they held all things in common (Acts 2:44-45).  This idea of a communal church in which no property was privately owned and all things were shared equally has had an appeal to some as they have reasoned, equality is fair and just.  Yet, in the context of the early church, which suffered great persecution at the hands of the Roman government, community was all they had.  Until the rule of fourth century Roman Emperor Constantine, Christianity was outlawed and Christians did not share in the wealth that is common for Christians today.  Christians held no positions of authority, they had no political power, they did not live peacefully among other Roman citizens, and they could in no way look to their government for any type of assistance or help.  Their government hated Christians and sought to kill them and drive them from the land. The earliest Christians were in no way proponents of big and powerful governments who overtaxed its citizens to “provide” for them because big government is what they had and big government resulted in more oppression and less freedom.

Because persecution was so severe in the land, these citizens voluntarily gave all they had for their common good, so that all of their brethren may both worship God AND eat.  These Christians did not cling to material wealth or possessions but lived each moment not knowing if it would be their last.  As the Apostle Paul has said, “For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory.  So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Cor. 17-18).  Paul understood that life was but a moment in the scope of eternity, so he set his affections not on things of this world, but heavenward.

Whether Christians today choose to live communally or not, inequality will still exist; even regenerate men struggle with sin.  The early church community dealth with the effects of sin in their camp.  Certain among them stole and lied (Acts 5:1-10), certain among them murmured and complained (Acts 6:1) and certain men were lazy and did not contribute their fair share.  Disparities remained.  Proponents of socialism declare that this is a perfect reason for government to enforce equality. Yet, they force ”equality” at the expense of freedom. These proponents miss the point.  As long as sin is in the world, inequity will persist.  Even Christ did not attempt to rid the world of inequality, for some men and women were highly favored (Lk. 1:28) and others were not.  Christ cared for the poor in spirit above all and in addressing the physical needs of a man, that man became more receptive to God’s message of salvation and redemption.  Governments, on the other hand, will steal and oppress in the name of righteousness, tyrants will abuse their citizens in the name of goodwill, all in an effort to “eliminate inequalities.”

Many societies feel the social and moral obligation to provide for those who are unable to care for themselves, and rightfully so. And even with billions of dollars being pumped into impoverished communities all over the world, poverty persists.  That is why Christian evangelism is extremely essential to this lost and dying world.  Were people to know God through His Son, they would soon learn that happiness isn’t contingent upon material wealth.  Through the preaching and receiving of God’s Word, man’s heart and desires would be turned from self toward others, generosity would be instinctive, and the basic needs of people would be met.   However, because of the perpetual selfishness and the wickedness of the ungodly, and because many in the church often fail to “remember the poor” (Gal. 2:10) in their clamor to erect buildings instead of building people, greed, vanity, and covetousness reign above charity.

To reiterate, Christ has illustrated through His Word that when people’s physical needs are met, they are much more open to receive the gospel.  Were the Church to lead the world in charity and champion the cause of the sick and downtrodden, the needy would not seek the help of the government; but seek Christ to fulfill their needs. When people are in Christ, they are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live righteously, according to God’s Word.  They are taught how to live responsibly and selflessly.  They are taught personal responsibility.  They are taught to love their neighbor.  The people would not be so deceived as to elect governments to do the work that the Church was intended to do.  Secular governments would have immense disapproval when they erect themselves in opposition to the Church.  Nearly every socialist government has always led to the suppression of Christianity.  Were the Church to proclaim the Word of the Lord all over the earth, people would not be consumed with temporal affairs but rather be taught that “man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4).

Church, Rise Up

Jesus said that “the poor you will have with you always” (Matt. 26:11); men will have many opportunities to be charitable.  Regardless of such, inequality of outcome will exist if some who are able-bodied are unwilling to work.  The Apostle Paul said that these men who choose not to work should not eat (2 Thess. 3:10).  Inequality of outcome will exist if some have a great God given ability that others do not that can earn them success (Deut. 8:18), or some work harder than others.  Inequality will exist if some are reckless in their spending, or drunkards, or gamblers. Great inequality will exist as long as the condition of man’s heart is not transformed by  Christ.  Therefore, although socialist governments attempt to rectify disparities within their lands, socialism falls short.  It exacerbates the inequities instead of alleviates them.  It fails.  These governments are only successful in making its citizens substantially deprived slaves of a godless state.

Christ never condoned or advocated for such a system. Christ entrusted the moral responsibility to care for the less fortunate to His church, not the government. The rampant spread of socialism throughout the earth should cause a sleeping Church to wake up, rise and reclaim its rightful place.  Preach Christ everywhere, give to those in need, and defend the faith knowing that heaven and earth will pass away, but His Word will live on forever (Lk.21:33).

What if We Had No National Debt? Five Things We Learned from the Debt Debate

by BURT AUGUST 3, 2011 – Original Post on Burtfolsom.com

What a wonderful thought. No national debt to have to repay. Actually, during the 1830s, about forty years after the U.S. began, we paid off all our national debt and began running surpluses. Yes, that took discipline, but President Washington had urged us to retire our $74 million national debt (mainly from our War for Independence) and not to throw “upon posterity the burden which we ourselves ought to bear.” In other words, don’t ask our grandchildren to pay the debts we are creating today. Let’s pay off our debts in our generation. And we did—not by any income tax, but by selling federal land, taxing imports, and imposing a small tax on whiskey. We were frugal and we promised our countrymen liberty, not federal subsidies. And Americans took that liberty, paid off our debts, and built our nation toward the Midwest by the 1830s.

A major political issue of the 1830s was this: “What do we do with all of this surplus revenue that is coming into the government? Do we pile it up in the federal treasury, or do we give it back to taxpayers?” In 1829, President Andrew Jackson wrote, “It appears to me that the most safe, just, and federal disposition which could be made of the surplus revenue, would be its apportionment among the several states according to their ratio of representation.” In other words, give the money back to the states, with the more populous states getting more back than the smaller states. Sure, some congressmen wanted to spend the surplus revenue in their districts, but the majority in the House and Senate chose to give the money back to the states.

My current state of Michigan—I teach at Hillsdale College—was not in the Union when this was done. Michigan was still a territory and was unhappy that Ohio, its neighbor to the south, had ended up with Toledo in its borders. “It should have been ours,” some Michiganders cried. And they resisted joining the Union. But when we had a whiff of the surplus revenue that Ohio and other states were getting, Michigan soon decided to apply for statehood. Michigan joined the United States in 1837.

True, the surpluses didn’t last long, but even as late as 1860, the U.S. national debt was less than it was in 1789, when the United States government began operation. Our leaders showed discipline, thriftiness, and a commitment to showing the world that liberty works. During the 1800s, the U.S. attracted tens of millions of immigrants from all over Europe. Our commitment to fiscal integrity was part of what made this nation work in the 1800s. And fiscal integrity is what we must restore if the U.S. is to continue to be that special place in the world in the 2000s.

Five Things We Learned from the Debt Debate

BY FRED BARNES originally on the Weekly standard

We’ve learned a lot from the fight to attach spending cuts to the debt limit increase. Here are five of the lessons:

1) President Obama can’t negotiate his way out of a paper bag. He yearned for a “grand bargain” of $4 trillion in cuts and tax hikes, giving him something to brag about in the 2012 campaign. He might have gotten it if he hadn’t performed so cBarack Obama lumsily once he took over the talks. He took away cuts agreed to by Vice President Biden and insisted on tax increases that couldn’t be offset in tax reform. He made an offer Republicans were bound to refuse.

2) Obama and Democrats don’t want to cut spending. Okay, this isn’t new, just freshly confirmed. They agree to cuts only under extreme duress. On Saturday, House Democrats railed against any cuts in Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid – or in just about anything else. Instead, they listed the spending programs they like. The president said again last night he wanted a “balanced” deal with tax hikes and cuts “from the beginning.” Not so. At the beginning he wanted a “clean” bill with no cuts at all.

3) Nancy Pelosi has slipped the bonds of rational discourse. It wasn’t just her riffs about saving the planet and House speaker John Boehner’s drift to the “dark side.” His bill “eliminates” Medicare, she said. (It didn’t touch Medicare.) Republicans are “destroying the public space of clean air, clean water, food safety, the education of our children, the health, financial security of seniors.” That was Saturday. On Friday, she cited the Founding Fathers as foes of Boehner. His bill must be defeated “to honor the sacrifice of our Founders.”

4) Contrary to the media narrative, Tea Party Republicans in the House didn’t oppose Boehner. Most voted with him. Only 10 of the 87 GOP freshmen, the Tea Party core in Congress, voted “no.” Credit the Tea Party, however, with creating the climate for cutting spending and the idea of using the debt limit as a vehicle for doing it. No Tea Party, no cuts, and a happy Obama.

5) A tricky part of the debt limit deal is the 12-member panel to decide on the second round of cuts. Since Democrats will fight to minimize cuts and maximize tax increases, Boehner and Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell need to pick their most reliable negotiators. A party leader, a master of the budget, and a freshman would work: Senators John Kyl, Jeff Sessions, and Marco Rubio, and Representatives Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan, and Allen West.

Our Fiscal Crisis: Substituting Marriage

Written by MARRI Senior Fellow Dr. Henry Potrykus,

”Our Fiscal Crisis: We Cannot Tax, Spend and Borrow Enough to Substitute for Marriage” shows that the slowdown in economic growth (shown in Chart 1 of the paper), coupled with the increased numbers of citizens dependant on the government, makes closing the deficit impossible for President Obama or anyone else who uses the present welfare state as the economic model to be sustained.

GDP growth is down and will continue to be down. This is explained by the decrease in marriage and families focused on children. As a nation we are no longer concerned with investing in our future through the next generation. This paper shows the relationship between stable married families and national economic growth.

“Our Fiscal Crisis” is the first in a series of papers documenting original MARRI research about the intergenerational formation of skills, competencies, and know-how [human capital] and the family’s role in forming that human capital. We show how important human capital is to our modern, knowledge-driven economy and how indispensable the stable, married family is to economic prosperity.

The paper is attached, and it can also be found on our website at: http://marri.frc.org/fiscal Please feel free to pass this paper on to your friends. We look forward to hearing any feedback which you have on it!

Thou Shalt Not Steal (Unless You Make $250K or More)

“If you believe that when the rich get richer, the poor get poorer; then you believe that creating wealth causes poverty….and you’re an idiot.” Michael Medved

The fact that one can believe that a lack of excessive taxes on the “rich” is the root cause of our economic woes is mind boggling to me. I am often guilty of trying to understand this type of thinking. The defenders of the tax-the-rich-more philosophy typically cite the following arguments when probed:
President Reagan’s tax cuts produced record deficits during his presidency
During President Clinton’s administration, our economy was thriving
President Bush created even more deficits with his tax cuts for the rich
The rich need to pay their fair share

I could go on to cite more of the left’s arguments that “prove” that tax cuts don’t work. However, I am not interested in composing an encyclopedia for my readers at this time.
Let’s address the era of President Reagan, shall we? Did his tax cuts produce a deficit?

The numbers reveal the following:

YEAR RECEIPTS

(in billions)

OUTLAYS
(in billions)
DEFICIT
(in billions)

1981 $599 $ 678 $ 79
1982 $618 $ 746 $128
1983 $601 $ 808 $208
1984 $666 $ 851 $185
1985 $734 $ 946 $212
1986 $769 $ 990 $212
1987 $854 $1,004 $149
1988 $909 $1,064 $155

*Budget of the United States Government: Historic Tables, pg 14.

As you can see, the federal government’s revenue (receipts) increased year after year. According to the left’s logic, Reagan was not supposed to increase revenue with tax cuts. So why did his administration receive MORE revenue than his predecessor Jimmy Carter? Tax rates were higher during the Jimmy Carter years and according to their rhetoric, it should be impossible that Reagan pulled in more. What our liberal friends fail to tell you is that there are two components to creating a deficit. The second consists of spending (outlays) and as you can see, taxes were not a problem but rather spending. Although I love the old Gipper, I must drop any bias and admit to the fact that he overspent on his Just Say No (to drugs) legislation, housing programs, etc.
As for the President George W Bush vs. Clinton argument, we should be aware of that Bush was also guilty of spending and increasing the size of government like liberals do. Under his watch Medicare was expanded, the Department of Homeland Security was created and money was spent on the new No Child Left Behind legislation, etc. Keep in mind that the response to 9/11 and the wars also differentiated spending between the two administrations. In direct contrast, President Clinton was restrained from spending as his Republican controlled Congress squashed the idea of spending massively on programs such as nationalized healthcare. It is also noteworthy to mention that President Clinton reduced the Capital Gains tax rate from 28% to 20% in 1997 which spurred economic growth during his administration!!!! Oh no my friends, they aren’t telling this part of the story.

Despite history being clear, liberals will insist on the rich paying their fair share of taxes. Excuse me ladies and gentlemen but what does “fair share” mean? Is “fair share”even an economic term? No! The term fair share is defined by whatever the administration deems it to be. In Obama’s case, I guess making $250,000 a year qualifies you as rich. This sounds very subjective to me.

Soooooooo, how do tax cuts spur economic problems again? History has displayed over and over again that tax cuts create growth while excessive spending does the opposite. Even Democrat John F. Kennedy called for tax cuts to ignite job growth to escape a recession in 1962 ….gasp! Once again, liberals are guilty as charged for using an emotional “fair share” argument that tugs on the hearts of those that are economically challenged.

We do not discriminate based on gender, race, class, economic status, ethnic background, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, cultural and religious backgrounds.

To Democrats and Republicans: We are compromising and this is our compromise. Take it or leave it.

This year, our dear leader plans to spend 1.69 Trillion dollars more than we take in via taxation. In other words, he wants to spend 3.69 Trillion dollars even though the people only have 2 Trillion give.

The ‘Cut, Cap and Balance Act (H.R. 2560)’ is our (huge) compromise people. It’s not that conservative of a deal, as it allows way too much debt. We are going along with very limited cutting in the budget. It is a fraction of what needs to happen in order for the USA to remain economically solvent.  So let’s not let them get this twisted.  The reality of the situation is that we need to cut 1.69 Trillion in spending a year, but The Cut, Cap and Balance plan would increase the debt limit by $2.4 trillion in exchange for cutting spending by $111 billion next year, along with a few other things but no other substantial CUTS in spending. So if anyone thinks we are not compromising they are sorely mistaken.

With that said, the Frederick Douglass Foundation of New York does agree this is a step in the right direction- a baby step but a step nonetheless.

So Please call your congressman today and let them know in no uncertain terms that this is the best compromise we will allow.  Hold your congressman accountable, praise them for holding strong and tell them to continue.  If you have a Liberal or a senator who is a coward, hold their feet to the fire too.  We cannot allow this out of control spending to persist.  We, on the right, have compromised with this Cut, Cap and Balance Act.  Now it is the left’s turn.

Find your Congressman/Rep/Senator: Click Here

Now, back to the subject at hand.

The Cut, Cap and Balance Plan is at least something with a little piece of meat in it, unlike the Senate bill that is laughable because it plans to cut a pathetic $3.7 trillion over 10 years.  Big whoop.  How is it that I know we over spend by 1.69 Trillion a year and Congress does not?  Can they even add up on the Hill?  $1.69 Trillion over 10 years is 16.9 Trillion dollars.  Even with cutting $3.7 Trillion, this will still double our debt over the next 10 years, which is currently over 14 Trillion dollars- not counting the $100 and some trillion in unfunded mandates.  Are these people insane?  If we are talking about the interest payments on $14 Trillion dollars and how it is unsustainable, why are we talking about doubling the debt and more than doubling the debt-service payments once interest rates go up as our credit worthiness is bound to be down graded to junk status at some point? Though, a part of me thinks: If the world was smart they would have down-graded us years ago, maybe that would have forced us to cut spending sooner.

Federal spending has reached historic highs, and I hope we can all agree that we the people have allowed too many previous administrations to spend, spend, spend.  It is time we put our foot down.  We cannot continue on with all the childish antics of “Well he did it, so that means so can I.”

Obama has spent more borrowed money in his first 2 years in office than all other presidents combined, and that obviously means the federal spending is at historic highs.  We have to get real- it is unsustainable.  According to the Congressional Budget Office, if Congress enacts Obama’s 2012 budget, interest payments on accumulated deficits will total $931 billion in 2021 alone.  That would account for too large a percentage of all tax receipts- leaving no money to fund the mandatory expenditures, let alone all the discretionary nonsense.

Combined with spending on other mandatory programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, 95% of all tax revenues would be spoken for before Congress can allocate funds to national defense or any other essential function of government that might include bailouts, stimulus spending, and costly new health care mandates.   With 2 Trillion taken in a year, we cannot say we have a revenue problem.  We have a spending problem.

Federal spending is currently at $3.69 trillion per year, and it is expected to grow to $4.3 trillion per year by the year 2019.  But that would be only if the rate of increase slowed to a turtle’s gallop.  At the same time, entitlement programs continue to grow, consuming an ever-increasing percentage of the federal budget.  Mandatory spending on entitlement programs, which has risen over 579% since 1965, is causing the Federal Government to currently spend $1.72 for every $1.00 of revenue.

Taxpayers can no longer afford a bloated federal budget full of earmarks and programs for special interests. The budgetary process must be reformed to improve transparency and identify programs better suited for the private sector as well as wasteful and redundant federal programs. It is time we the people, who are caesar in America, force institutional changes to constrain spending by politicians.

I know it is tempting for many, especially those who do not pay attention to the numbers, to say that we should raise taxes on the ‘rich.’ But consider this: “If Obama convinced Congress to simply tax small business owners and investors who make $250,000 or more per year to pay off the deficit, their rates would have to rise to levels that are not even possible. The top two rates would need to rise to 132% and 142%, which is, of course, more than they earn.”
Fact sheet

We must insist that the government re-allocate monies to pay first for those things the constitution expressingly calls for us to pay for, such as servicing our debt, the general welfare as well as things like national defense. Which, by the way, Congress would have to support a core defense budget that would require a minimum commitment of averaging $720 billion per year over five years in order to maintain a trained, ready force that can protect our vital national interests and prepare for the future. This goal is obtainable under the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act.

Congress would YES have to then prioritize the rest of the money and when it is gone we cut everything else.  That’s the reality.  We are up a creak without a paddle, and the water falls is thundering in our ears.

Perhaps a balanced budget amendment is in order, a taxpayer’s bill of rights, and a supermajority in Congress for any tax increases.  One thing is for sure, if we intend to stay economically solvent and to continue being the super power in the world, the size and scope of our government must be returned to a level that the nation can afford. Perhaps Congress should understand the principle of, “develop a budget, to ensure that you can afford the loan payments” hello it is not that hard to understand or have we gone so far off the deep end we do not understand God’s Word anymore

Proverbs 22: 7 The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.

Forecasts suggest that the Obama administration’s spending proposals will push the national debt to 90% of the GDP by 2020, doubling to 180% of the GDP by 2035.  But I don’t know where these forecasters get these numbers.  The 2010 GDP was about $15 trillion, depending on where you look.  $14.3 trillion in debt divided by $15 trillion in GDP is over 95% debt to GDP.  It sounds to me that these forecasters are trying to hide the truth from us.  We’re already in the national debt death spiral.

The interest alone on the current debt already accounts for over $30 billion in federal spending every month.  If action is not taken imminently, the federal spending will bankrupt the United States, thwarting economic growth and threatening our competitiveness in the global economy. We as Christians we are required to pay back our debt and we should not take that lightly so how about we think hard on what debt we want to accumulate, if any.

Psalm 37: 21 The wicked borrows and does not repay, But the righteous shows mercy and gives.,

So HOW ABOUT WE GET OUT OF DEBT! We as a nation do not have to go into debt with 2 Trillion Dollars of revenue a year, but if people insist on raising taxes how about start having the 50% of the nation who pays NO Taxes start paying some taxes instead of making the 50% that already pay everything pay more. Now, that would be a fair idea. See: Matthew 25:14-30; Luke 19:12-28

Let us, as conservatives, send a message to our republican and democrat leaders by saying:  ”This is our compromise.”  Take it or leave it.  We will not go any lower.  If Obama and his comrades want to play partisan political games at a time of crisis, then that is on them. We, on the right, have done our part and compromised WAY TOO MUCH with this Cut, Cap and Balance deal.

Call your local, state and federal representatives and praise those who have been standing firm on saving America.  Tell them you are behind them and will stay behind them if they just keep on fighting for us.

For those Congressional traitors who are playing games and trying to socialize our country, hold their feet to a hotter fire and remind them that they work for you and that you want them to CUT Spending by 1.7 Trillion dollars a year.  That is sure to get their attention.

Where is the outrage over the sexist Bill Maher? I am a believer in free speech and everyone has the right to be a jerk and/or willfully ignorant. But I do think woman’s groups need to step it up and call Maher out. He is like a spoiled child trying to have something intelligent to say and all that comes out is name calling. Do you know why he has to resort to calling Representative Michele Bachmann and Former Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin MILFs, and other derogatory names. Because their polices are stellar and they have managed to be true woman. Managing God, husband, family and country in style while maintaing their beauty and poise. Awesome women. I wonder if they realized Rep. Bachmann has fostered more than twenty children – aside from her husband’s and her own biological children? And Palin, Wow, a blue collar family girl who pulled herself up and worked her way to Gov. Did you know she even helped fight for same education and athletic opportunities as boys with the Title IX legislation. Palin is a scrapper and fought against her own party and the Palin confronted establishment Republicans head on.

The Budget Deficit, Debt Limit and Taxes

People please call your congressman today and tell them NO on raising the debt ceiling. It is time we fight back and say enough is enough. We do not need to raise more revenue or raise the debt ceiling but instead we need to cut spending. We take in over 2 Trillion dollars a year in tax revenues and spend 3.4 Trillion. The problem is not revenue but out of control spending.

Congressman Paul Ryan is on the front lines of this. Please show him your support as well.

Walking in the Spirit

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[a] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[b] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
